High Down opened with the first pupils in April 1966, making this the 50th Anniversary year of the school! We are planning a range of events to celebrate our Golden Year which this term will include a 1960s themed Flower Power Carnival Float and a Children’s Picnic on the school field. We are planning further celebrations for the Autumn and Spring terms including Golden Daffodil planting, burying a Time Capsule, displaying Golden Memories and Memorabilia, a Grand Opening of the new reception block and Anniversary Concerts.
We would like to gather together memories from past staff and pupils in a Golden Memory Book and also on this section of the school website to ensure that memories from the school, both past and present, live on well into the future. Please complete the information sheet below and email back to us.
During the Autumn Term, there will be a “High Down ‘60s Memories” tea party for those who were at the school between 1966 and 1970. If you are in touch with past pupils or staff who were at the High Down Schools in the 1960’s please let them know that we would love to hear from them.
More details to follow on how to get involved with the school’s anniversary events and collection of happy memories.
High Down Schools would like to welcome any past staff and past pupils who attended the school during the 1960s to a Golden Anniversary Party at the school on Wednesday 14th December from 2pm to 5pm. The celebrations will include a tour of the school and a performance by the school choir followed by tea and cakes.
