Art and Design

Children are encouraged to participate in a variety of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional activities using a wide range of materials and techniques which stimulate their imagination and allow them to express personal thoughts, emotions and observations. Children develop a variety of skills and in Textiles and Collage, Drawing, Painting and Printing, 3D work and Clay, Photography and ICT.

The Art and Design programme also includes an introduction to the appreciation of artists, crafts people and designers both locally and from a variety of cultures through images and artefacts, where children are encouraged to observe closely and comment. Children also use the local environment to inspire their work such as Weston Big Wood and sculptures around the Marina and Nature reserve. The school community celebrates an Arts week during the Summer Term.
